On 03.12.2021 TPF Sp. z o.o. signed a contract with PKP PLK S.A. and Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolja (GZM) on the order entitled ‘Works on the passenger routes (E 30 and E 65) in the area of Silesia on the section Katowice – Gliwice - the development of the feasibility study.’

The aim of the project is to separate the agglomeration traffic from the long-distance traffic on the rail routes connection of Katowice and Gliwice, which is about 30 km long, via Chorzów, Świętochłowice, Ruda Śląska and Zabrze. It is the main rail route of the cities of Upper Silesia and part of the most important S1 line of the Silesian Railways. In the future it will be one of the two key routes of the main transport project of the GZM - the Metropolitan Railway. It’s further development is currently impossible by insufficient capacity of the rail routes. The feasibility study is one of the most important stages of preparation for the start of this investment.

The task of TPF engineers will be, among others: to analyse the possibilities of increasing accessibility of rail transport in agglomeration and regional traffic; adaptation of stations and stops to the needs of disabled people; general improvement of freight transport for heavier and longer freight trains.

The studies will determine the scope of the project, its effects, and the cost of implementation.
