Since June 2024, TPF Sp. z o.o. has been acting as the Project Engineer, commissioned by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., for the section Katowice Szopienice Południowe – Katowice – Katowice Piotrowice, implemented as part of the project: “Works on the main passenger railway corridors (E30 and E65) in the Silesia region, Stage I: E65 line on the section Będzin – Katowice Szopienice Południowe – Katowice – Katowice Piotrowice.”

The investment is a significant element of the modernization of railway infrastructure in the Upper Silesian–Zagłębie metropolitan area, increasing line capacity and improving conditions for both passenger and freight traffic operations.

The scope of the project includes, among others:

• Construction and reconstruction of railway stations and stops,
• Construction of new stops: Katowice Uniwersytet, Katowice Akademia, Katowice Kokociniec,
• Construction of over 22 km of new tracks,
• Modernization of approximately 96 km of tracks and around 133 km of overhead catenary system,
• Installation of 267 turnouts,
• Construction and reconstruction of 140 engineering structures.

The attached photos present one stage of the track works — the transport and unloading of prefabricated turnouts using the PWP gantry system technology.

The process involves a specialized transport trolley designed for carrying complete turnout assemblies, operating in cooperation with mobile gantry cranes. This system enables the turnout to be lifted, moved along the track axis, and precisely installed on the prepared track bed.

The use of this technology significantly reduces installation time and minimizes track closures while maintaining high geometric accuracy of the track system.
