We are pleased to announce that in September 2024, we completed the contract for the project to redevelop the railway station in Olsztynek.
After decades of serving as an important transportation hub in Olsztynek, the historic PKP railway station building, dating back to 1939, has undergone a transformation that has breathed new life into it. The former station building, once a symbol of travel and connection in the region, has now been adapted to serve new cultural functions due to declining passenger numbers and limited space utilization.
The historic structure, including the main building and adjacent warehouses, has been repurposed as a Municipal Cultural Center. The small railway post building has also been given a new function, now serving as the primary railway station. Additionally, a covered area has been created between the buildings, acting as a waiting area decorated with a concrete mural depicting the region and a map of Olsztynek. In the center of the waiting area stands an impressive concrete tree sculpture, symbolizing the resilience and new chapter of this space.
Thanks to the collaboration of PKP S.A. with the consortium of TPF and Decorum Architekci, a conceptual plan, construction documentation, detailed design, and the necessary building permits were obtained for the modernization. Completed in September 2024, this redevelopment is an outstanding example of adapting historic spaces to new functions, transforming the former station into a vibrant cultural center for the town.
We sincerely thank all partners and investors for their cooperation and commitment to bringing this unique project to life. The new PKP station in Olsztynek now serves not only travelers but also all the town’s residents, becoming a new symbol of integration and culture.
