Reconstruction of Władysławowo railway station completed

The reconstruction of Władysławowo railway station was completed in March 2023. The reconstruction of the station in Władysławowo cost PLN 14.32 million gross. The investor was Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A., the design documentation was prepared by TPF Sp. z o.o. in cooperation with TBiARCHITEKCI Sp. z o. o. and the works contractor was KAMARO Sp. z o.o. Sp. K. with its registered office in Gdańsk.

Construction work on the station lasted a year and a half. The investment was carried out as part of the Station Investment Programme 2016-2023 with EU funding from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment. Thanks to it, the station, which was built in 1928-29, underwent a comprehensive reconstruction taking into account its historical character. The station's façade underwent renovation, which regained its light grey colour, with details and door window frames in white. The light-coloured façade is contrasted by a red plain tile roof. On the facades of the building on the side of the city and the platforms, right at the entrance to the passenger service area, station clocks and new spatial and illuminated inscriptions "Dworzec Kolejowy" (from the side of the city) and "Władysławowo" (from the side of the platforms) were placed. The overall aesthetic effect achieved in this way is emphasised by the new night illumination of the building.

The interior of the station underwent a huge metamorphosis, but with respect for the historical character of the station. In the passenger service area in the central part of the building, classical design elements were combined with modernity. The lobby, which also serves as a waiting area, is decorated in bright colours. The grey floor and walls are in perfect harmony with the white of the wooden panelling and columns and the ceiling with its linear lighting. In the lobby, travellers will also find benches, display cabinets with timetables, as well as electronic train arrival and departure boards. The passenger service space is air-conditioned. Ticket offices and toilets are located adjacent to it. The southern part of the station is dedicated to seasonal ticket offices, while the northern part and the first floor, in the central part of the building, are planned as rental units. 

The investment has made the station a place that is friendly to people with reduced mobility. For people in wheelchairs and families with small children, special ramps have been constructed on the side of the city and on the platforms, allowing easy access to the travel service area. The station also features disabled-accessible toilets, as well as a number of other improvements, including Braille boards, tactile plans for the station, and pathways for the blind and visually impaired, among others.

The station has also become environmentally friendly and safe after the redevelopment. The building was insulated and its windows and doors were replaced, reducing heat loss.  Modern and energy-efficient LED lighting was installed, along with automated control systems and heat pumps. The station is equipped with an intelligent building management system (BMS - Building Management System), which directs the operation of installations and equipment and optimises electricity, heat and water consumption. The building and its surroundings are also safer, thanks to the installation of modern monitoring, access control, burglary and assault alarm and fire protection systems.

Changes have also been made to the surroundings of the station. Two car parks have been created in the vicinity of the building, accommodating more than 30 cars in total, as well as a cycle shelter. The car park that was created in place of the shopping pavilions has been surfaced with concrete openwork panels. This is an environmentally friendly solution, allowing rainwater to seep directly into the soil, creating a bioactive space and also protecting the car park from possible flooding during excessive rainfall. As part of the investment, new trees and shrubs were also planted and the green areas were tidied up. Underneath, a substantial rainwater retention tank was built. This will be used to water the green areas and, after purification, to flush the station toilets.
