We are pleased to announce that on 29 January 2026, TPF Sp. z o.o., acting on behalf of the Academic Space Innovation Office of the University of Warsaw, obtained a building permit for the reconstruction of the building of the Faculty of Geology of the University of Warsaw at Żwirki i Wigury Street.
TPF Sp. z o.o. has been developing multi-disciplinary documentation for the investment since September 2023. The aim of the project is to completely renovate the building, which dates back to the 1950s, and to rebuild and adapt it to contemporary teaching and research needs. The project is covered by the Multi-Annual Programme entitled "University of Warsaw 2016-2027". The reconstruction of the building will enable:
- Repairing of the technical condition of the building, improving its appearance and environmental parameters,
- Bringing the learning environment for students up to modern standards,
- Adaptation to modern forms, equipment and scientific research techniques.
An additional challenge and source of satisfaction for the designers is the fact that the building undergoing reconstruction is protected by conservation regulations with regard to its structure and external façades. Built between 1954 and 1960, according to a design by the renowned Warsaw architect Romuald Gutt, it is an important and recognisable architectural feature on the map of Warsaw. The renovated building will be an example of adapting old building fabric to contemporary academic needs, while respecting the traditional expression, proportions and scale of the architecture.
